States and districts have been clamoring for more flexibility under federal law to spend money where it’s needed and craft policies in testing and other areas to meet their most pressing priorities.

The new Every Student Succeeds Act, which almost everyone is calling ESSA, goes a long way toward giving them that running room—with potentially big implications for companies working in K-12.

The law will have the potential to change how companies involved in tutoring, school interventions, educational technology, and other areas do business with K-12 schools.
