Curious About K-12 Budgets for 2017-18? Check our EdWeek Market Brief's Aug. 7 webinar

Companies doing business in the K-12 marketplace spend a lot of time thinking about whether school districts have money to spend, or if they’re retreating to financial shelter. So what does the budget picture look like for the coming 2017-18 academic year?

Today at 2 p.m. Eastern time, an EdWeek Market Brief webinar will delve into that question. The live event will feature three experts who bring their own distinct knowledge of the state of school budgets, and what it means for education providers, nonprofits, and others who have a stake in the market.

I’ll be moderating the session, “The State of K-12 Budgets: Positioning Your Company for the Company School Year.” We’ll hear presentations from three guests, all of whom will be available for questions from the audience.

I’ll be joined by Donald J. Boyd, the director of fiscal studies at the Rockefeller Institute of Government, who will talk about national trends in taxes and revenues and their impact on schools. Our second presenter will be Noelle Ellerson Ng, the associate executive director of the AASA, the School Superintendents Association, who will share what the members of her organization are telling her about the expected money flow in their districts.

And we’ll be joined by Claire Hertz, the chief financial officer of the Beaverton School District in Oregon, who will give an on-the-ground look at the pressures faced by a district coping with the vicissitudes of national, state, and local economies.

So sign up for the webinar today, send us a question, and join the discussion.
